If you’re like me you want your car to go faster. There are a few easy ways to get more “fast” out of your volkswagen. Depending on what type of VW you have the selection of parts available to you will vary wildly. There are a lot of people out there tuning their Golf/GTI but obviously there are a lot fewer Toureg parts out there.
This task requires working with larger vehicle and steel parts, it generally means that it is important to follow safety precautions. Anyone who is helping in this task must also be aware of the safety measures while installing the manifold.
The parts are not especially expensive but getting the old parts out and the new ones in can be a lengthy process. Given the nature of this type of job, it would also be a good idea to replace the front shocks while you are at it as the old ones need to come out anyway. If your shocks have 20 to 50 thousand miles, you may want to go ahead and replace them now.
If you feel that your car has even the smallest of problems, it is smart to get it checked right away. Many people ignore smaller issues, and they eventually lead to much larger issues.
Remove the mounting bolts for the valve cover with a socket or Best Torque Wrench Under 100 then remove the top valve cover. Peel out the gasket from the valve cover with your hands or use a flat head screwdriver. Use a shop rag, a plastic brush and degreaser to clean the inside of the gasket cover housing.
Observe where the timing mark on the pulley appears compared to the degree tab on the front of the engine to see what the current ignition timing is. You can remove the timing light components, wheel chocks and bring your car back to its normal state if you are satisfied with the current ignition timing.
The oils you can use on bicycles are thin and non-greasy solutions, it only takes a couple of drops each time you use it. Moveable bicycle parts, chains and gears need a specific amount of lubrication in order to work properly. You need to practice that extra ounce of prevention when it comes to the safety features and basic bicycle maintenance in order to keep you bike in top condition.
