In the fashion world bloggers are rising to prominence as a force to be reckoned with. For some reason many new and established fashion brands still seem to treat them as second class citizens. We think this is a mistake, and here are a few reasons why we think so.
Today, when I think of the immutable principles that work in life and in business, I think of two of them that applied to Lenny that day. One is that how you do anything is how you do everything. The other is that what you focus on expands. The trick is that these principles work the same whether in the negative or in the positive realm.
A blazer and heels can look really dressed up. If youre going for a more casual look, then stick to one or the other. When you want to wear your blazer in a dressed down way, slip on a pair of flat shoes. Ballet flats are still pretty smart and polished, so try a loafer, sandal, or sneaker instead.
When you are at the beach or pool, store your sunscreen in a cool place. Otherwise, the heat can change the chemical composition of the product, making it less effective. You can put it in a plastic baggie before putting it in your beverage cooler, or put it in a baggie with ice.
This week’s round-up for female style concentrates on the continuing trend of varsity jackets in the Streetwear Brands scene. If they haven’t already, most known streetwear brands such as Hellz Bellz, Nike, and Married to the Mob have already released their own version of a varsity jacket for this Fall/Winter. Karmaloop shows that brands Vans and WeSc have joined the bandwagon also. Some of these brands have taken the varsity jacket one step further by customizing the original design and have incorporated their own elements for added flair. For example, WeSC’s jacket uses a plaid material and includes a cowl neck design. While other designs by Married to the Mob, Vans, and as well as WeSC follow the traditional varsity jacket design for females, especially Vans with their converting hood.
I was reminded of this last week when the men’s fashion Streetwear Brands clothing trade magazine Daily News Record DNR ran a story Retail Graveyard October about a guy named Peter Divietro in Sloatsburg N.Y who annually for Halloween decorates his front yard with tombstones to commemorate dead retail stores.
A good thing to do is check the pricing of competitors. Do yours match up? Are they lower or higher? Try to keep your pricing in the same range as brands in the same niche as yours. You might be thinking ‘I’ll sell my tees cheaper than my competition so that people prefer mine!” This isn’t always the case. Only offer cheaper prices if you can still promise equal or better quality. Otherwise you’ll just come off as a knock-off, wannabe brand. The ‘CHEAP CHEAP CHEAP!’ approach is necessarily the best route to take.
