I’ve never been a big fan of taxis. The few times I’ve had no other option but to ride in one I’ve resigned myself to feeling like I’m getting suckered. I know taxi drivers are people too, and they have families to support and all that. But experience in the school-of-hard-knocks has jaded me a bit. The best advice “out there” is to ask what the fare will be in advance or at the very least make sure the taxi is metered. Come to think of it, after years living over seas I’ve seen very few taxi’s with meters that actually work, and even if the fare is established before you step inside the taxi; you just never know how realistic the fare you’re being quoted actually is. I’ve had much more luck in hotels – asking the concierge to call a taxi in advance and having him or her ask what the price will be.
2) Digital Floor Plans – This is a nice little tool that I like to use to weed out unqualified buyers and time wasters. Some buyers seem to think that it is their duty to view every home that is being sold FSBO, when there is actually very little chance of a purchase. If you have a digital floor plan, you can email it to interested parties, and make sure that they are actually looking for a home that has your layout. Why waste your time and show your three bedroom, 2 bath house, with the master bedroom upstairs, if the buyer is insisting on a first floor master? An appraiser should be able to provide this service for well under $100 in most markets.
So, once you define a golden egg, who they are, and where we’d find them, then we start looking for “the golden goose” that lays those particular golden eggs.
Keep signs company it short and sweet when it comes to wording. Only add important information such as your location and website address. If you are active on Facebook or Twitter consider adding those images to the side, in a size that is noticeable but not overwhelming.
